Punches can be described as any unified landing followed by a unified takeoff. Simply put, a punch is landing on both feet followed by a takeoff from both feet, but is more commonly used specifically as an instant rebound where the performer essentially stomps the ground with both feet and bounces. The traditional punch is widely utilized within gymnastics, and is most efficient on a spring floor, or other similar surface.
The 2016 update of Aeriformmat has changed the classification of this transition to a “Duplex” transition, a specific type of unified transition, but still utilizes punch as its proper name.
- Like gymnastics, the punch is mostly used to create powerful rebounds for high rotation vert kicking, as well as twists and multiple flipping tricks.
